Hello,
This is a message from Kakao Mail service team.
We sincerely thank you for using Kakao Mail service.
We would like to inform you about the upcoming changes to our Kakao Mail Inactivity Policy as well as Kakao Mail Operation Policy.
We are updating our Long-Term Service Use Inactivity Policy to actively protect unused email accounts for a more secure service environment for our active users and reduce unnecessary marketing email transmission.
1. Changes to Kakao Mail Inactivity Policy
| As-Is | To-Be |
| Kakao Operation Policy 6. Accounts will be classified as inactive if they are not used for 1 year in accordance with the Long-Term Service Use Inactivity Policy. | - Accounts that have not been logged in for 90 days (3 months) will be classified as inactive. - If a user accesses their Kakao Mail account via PC, mobile, or IMAP/POP3 to use the mail service, the account will automatically be reactivated and excluded from being classified as inactive. |
2. As part of the Kakao Mail Operation Policy, a new Kakao Mail Inactivity Policy has been established as follows:
| As-Is | To-Be |
| (New) | <Kakao Mail Inactivity Policy> Kakao Mail enforces an account inactivity policy to actively protect unused email accounts and reduce unnecessary marketing email transmission, ensuring a more secure service environment for active users. 1. When a user does not access Kakao Mail (via PC, mobile, or IMAP/POP3) for 90 days (3 months), the account will be classified as inactive. - Existing inbox/outbox messages are retained, but inactive accounts cannot receive new email and messages will be returned to the sender. - Any scheduled email messages or automatic replies (i.e., out-of-office) previously set will not be sent once the account becomes inactive, and auto-reply settings will also become disabled. - For security purposes, your POP3/SMTP and IMAP/SMTP settings will be disabled. 2. A notification will be sent via email 30 days prior to the account being classified as inactive. 3. The user account will automatically be reactivated when logging back in to Kakao Mail. - Since inactive accounts cannot receive new email, users will have to request the sender to resend any unreceived email, if needed. |
